Achieving financial tranquility or aspiring to financial freedom is not a matter of luck, of making a quick «hit» or of discovering a secret formula reserved for a few. After more than ten years investing in various markets and actively managing an alternative investment portfolio with own capital, I have one absolute certainty: the greatest wealth gains come from avoiding serious mistakes and applying simple principles consistently.
In this article I summarize the eight fundamental principles that I would have liked to have known when I started from scratch. They are lessons forged with successes, but above all with real mistakes that I have learned over a decade, and that are applicable to both crowdlending and any other type of asset.
I'll explain it step by step with practical examples on the screen:

1 – Set clear and quantifiable goals
Saving out of simple inertia without a concrete goal often leads to giving up or impulsive spending. When I was younger, I saved without a plan, simply saving what was left at the end of the month, and that greatly limited my ability to focus.
2 – Start with little (50 euros) to break the paralysis
The biggest obstacle for most people is not a lack of capital, but the fear of taking the first step. The classic paralysis caused by analysis before the onboarding process or the initial operations occurs.
Today, there are regulated platforms with minimum ticket prices as low as 10, 20 or 50 euros. Starting with a small amount has enormous pedagogical value: it allows you to verify how initial interest is generated and to test the system without taking unnecessary risks. Anyone who manages rigorously 50 euros will be able to manage thousands when the time comes.
3 – Never ask for loans to invest (a real mistake I made)
In 2022, I sought external funding to accelerate my investments. As delays or issues arise with the projects, the bank loan installment continues to require payment month after month with absolute rigour.
Gold rule: invest only your own saved capital, never borrowed money.
4 – Avoid FOMO and learn to control your emotions
FOMO (Fear of being left out) leads to committing the worst mistakes during the peak euphoria of the market. When everyone is enthusiastically talking about an investment, it is usually the time for maximum caution.
Markets are cyclical. Stay calm, analyze with coldness, and operate methodically when no one is paying attention.
5 – Real and structured diversification
Concentrating almost all capital in one or two platforms is taking on an unnecessary risk, regardless of their apparent reputation:
6 – The magic of compound interest: eating rice today to eat well tomorrow
The continued reinvestment of returns is the mechanism that transforms linear growth into purely exponential growth. If you withdraw the profits generated each month to consume them, your base does not grow. If you reinvest them systematically, your returns begin to generate new returns continuously.
7 – Continuous training combined with real practice
Theory is fundamental to understanding concepts like risk, liquidity, and interest rates, but true investment skill is forged in the real world. Read what you need to get started, take the plunge with little money, and keep learning by analyzing your own results.
8 – Assume that every investment involves risk (be wary of miracles)
If someone offers you a 15% annual return with no risk, He is deceiving you. Every investment has risks: inflation in the accounts, credit in the loans and volatility in the stock market. The investor’s mission is not to avoid the risk, but to understand it, control it and receive an appropriate return for managing it.
